Instant Messaging

IM is the greatest of all the web 2.0 training lessons. It is a lot of fun. With all the acronyms and abbreviations I have learned today in the IM training, it is like I have penetrated a whole new world. I did not know some people are communicating that way (using acronyms and abbreviations).

Wikis Session

1. I have posted to the wiki. My post contains an outline of my job in Macquarie Univerity
Library. I edited it. However, I could not create a link to where my job desciption is posted
because the link is not active at present.

2. I found an error in the page called Ranganathan's Five Laws of Library Science.
Under the five laws, the word Access was wrongly spelled as "acesed" and I have edited it.

3. I found a wiki on Football. It has some good photos of the 2010 world cup in South Africa.
the link to the wiki is; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football

RSS feeds

Hi Teacher Lhan,

I have found the following RSS feeds in today's session:

  1. Librarian (I like this website because it provides updates on library and information Science)
  2. Sudan Tribune (provides update on Sudan, especially the up coming referendum on self determination of southern Sudan)
  3. Sydney Morning Herald (I enjoy current news about Australia)
  4. The world game (Soccer is my favourite game since I was young)

I found that RSS feeds and Google Reader are some of the excellent tools in the information age.

Iam sure I will use these tools for both work and personal benefits.

Thanks

Alex

Bike Riding

One of my hobbies is bike riding. Infact I sometimes ride to the station and leave my bike there and take the bus to work and pick up my bike after work.

Therefore, the link below takes you to a blog that discusses about bike riding.

Here is the link: http://readytoride.biz/

"Libraries and communities"

I found a blog that relates to the information (Library) industry to be interesting.

The URL of the blog is as follows: http://librarycommunities.blogspot.com/

What I found very interesting in this blog are the youtube videos about library services.

To watch the videos, click on the link above; scroll to the bottom of the "libraries and community blog"; and play the video on youtube.

Enjoy.
